Tons of rice have been set ablaze in Gboko Local Government Area.
The Chairman says, they are no longer fit for human consumption.
When contacted, the Local Government Chairman, James Kachina, claimed that when he assumed office in June, the food items in question had already expired but left in the warehouse.
On enquiry as to why he chose to destroy the rice now, he said he thought it wise to do so before the warehouse will be vandalized and the expired rice which is not suitable for consumption taken.
