The Abuja Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has rejected claims by the Nigeria Police that Late Vanguard Newspapers Reporter, Tordue Salem was killed by a hit and run driver.
The Union Chairman, Emmanuel Ogbeche who made this known during a visit by the leadership and members of the House of Representatives Press corps to present a petition against the Nigeria Police, appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to set up an independent commission of inquiry towards unravelling the circumstances behind his death.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Press Corps, Grace Ike while presenting the petition, demanded justice for Tordue Salem calling on the Nigeria Union of Journalists to mobilize the media in solidarity for the late Vanguard Newspapers Reporter.
Tordue Salem’s death was reported on Thursday by Vanguard Newspapers, 3 days after the National Assembly had in a resolution demanded the Inspector General of Police to unearth the mystery behind his disappearance.
