Vocal trade unions in Nigeria are under threat with “No work, No Pay” over strikes embarked upon to push government into keeping to agreements.
This is according to the General secretary of the Non-academic staff unions of educational and associated institutions, NASU, Peters Adeyemi at its national executive council meeting to review government’s commitment in implementing its demands
In september 2025 NASU and SSANU led protests demanding government’s implementation of agreements it has freely entered with trade Unions.
According to the secretary general of the committee of vice chancellors of Nigerian universities, Professor Andrew Haruna and African regional secretary of the public service international, Daniel Oberko, African governments havè continued to breach workers rights by reneging on agreements reached leading to prolonged agitations and downtools
The Registrar of Trade Unions of Nigeria, Falope Amos however stated that trade unions must get their decisions right to avoid industrial crisis.
