The suit which was filed has the Minister of Transportation, the Nigerian Railway Corporation and the Attorney-General of the Federation as the first, second and third respondents.

The plaintiffs contend that the respondents are bound to secure the rail lines linking Kaduna state to the Federal Capital Territory, and all other railways lines in Nigeria against armed attacks by Terrorists, kidnappers and other dangerous armed groups.

The plaintiffs are seeking an order restraining the respondents from commencing rail services on the Kaduna-Abuja route until adequate security and requisite gadgets are provided to ensure the safety and protection of lives and property on the route.

The federal government had announced a resumption of the rail service on the corridor on Monday twenty third of May, two months after it was suspended following the deadly attack by terrorists in March.

Over sixty passengers were abducted out of which only two have so far regained freedom.
