The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that the National Grid has been fully restored after a partial disturbance Saturday evening.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN Ndidi Mbah, the disturbance occurred at 15:09 hours on July 6, 2024, when three units of a power generating station tripped unexpectedly, removing 313MW from the grid and causing system instability.
However, the System Operator quickly responded to the situation by islanding a section of the grid, which included the Ibom Power Station, to continue supplying power to areas such as Uyo, Aba, Itu, Eket, and Calabar. Restoration efforts began immediately, and the entire affected section of the grid was successfully restored by 21:57 hours on Saturday.
Our Correspondent reports that this incident marks the third partial grid disturbance and one total disturbance this year.
TCN assured that the grid is now fully restored, and power supply has been reinstated to all affected areas.
