The tribunal chaired by Justice AM Yakubu, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to issue Certificate of Return to the petitioner, Jibrin Falgore, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as winner of the rerun election, held on January 25, 2020.
The 3-man tribunal agreed with the submission of the petitioner’s counsel, Ibrahim Waru, that the member did not have the requisite qualification to contest the election, having not resigned as Director General of Kano State Drugs and Consumables Supply Agency, 30 days to the rerun election, held on Saturday, January 25th.
The tribunal also agreed that the votes scored by the member were wasted votes and ordered the speaker or clerk of the assembly to swear in Jibrin Falgore of the PDP immediately as member representing Rogo Constituency.
