Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing site in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria in a major crackdown on the proliferation of illicit weapons.
The operation, carried out at about 5pm on Wednesday in Gwandanu Village, led to the arrest of two suspects who were allegedly caught fabricating firearms. Troops also recovered a cache of weapons, including two AK-47 rifles and one G3 rifle, as well as equipment used in producing the arms. Items recovered include two generating sets, a welding machine, a drilling machine, and other fabrication tools.
In a related development, troops in Gidan Waya, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, North-West Nigeria responded to an attack on members of the Forest Guards and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria. The troops, working with the Forest Guards, pursued the attackers toward the Jaginde Forest.

On sighting the advancing troops near Ungwar Maruwa, the suspects abandoned a motorcycle and fled into the bush. One suspect was subsequently arrested, while a search of the hideout led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, an AK-49 rifle, a motorcycle, and a sleeping mat.
All arrested suspects are currently in custody and undergoing investigation, as authorities work to uncover possible links to wider criminal networks.
Troops say mop-up operations are ongoing to recover more illegal weapons and apprehend fleeing suspects.
Operation Enduring Peace has reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region, and is urging residents to continue providing timely information to security agencies.
