Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji have foiled what could have been a deadly attack by suspected terrorists on Sabon Gari Area of Bakura Town, in Zamfara State.
The troops also neutralized several terrorists, while others escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds.
Sources said that the terrorists in their large numbers, armed with sophisticated weapons, launched attack on the Sabon Gari community and started shooting sporadically to scare the residents away.
They also carted away a large number of cattle.
They said the terrorists stormed the community at about 1:30 pm on Tuesday.
The troops deployed at Bakura Local Government Area of the state responded promptly and engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun battle that lasted about two hours.
The troops’ superior firepower forced the terrorists to abandon the rustled cattle, three AK47 rifles and fled towards Kurunkudu, into the forest, with gunshot wounds.
