Troops of Operation Enduring Peace, working alongside local vigilante groups, have neutralised several terrorists during coordinated clearance operations in parts of Plateau State.
The operation, carried out under Operation Wutan Daji, targeted criminal elements operating within Daba and Seri villages in Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas.
At about 8:30am on April 9, 2026, troops positioned along the Dutsen Zaki-Odare Forest corridor intercepted a large group of armed men on motorcycles moving along a known route. The troops engaged the group with heavy firepower, killing 10 of the attackers, while others fled into nearby forests.
In a related operation, troops responded to reports of an attack on commuters along the Razat–Kafi Abu road. The suspects retreated into surrounding areas, prompting a pursuit and subsequent cordon-and-search operations across Suma Suga and Takwok villages, including nearby mountainous terrain.
During the operations, troops recovered three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, eight rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two motorcycles, and five 25-litre jerrycans of petrol believed to be for logistics. A national identity card and a photograph suspected to belong to the attackers were also recovered.
Military authorities say the operation has significantly weakened the activities of armed groups in the area. Troops remain on high alert and are continuing efforts to track down fleeing suspects and restore security across identified flashpoints in the state.
