Troops kill 26 Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State

Troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force of Operation Hadin Kai in conjunction with the Air Task Force have killed 20 Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province, ISWAP terrorists who were camping around Wartek in the general area of Lamboa forest.

A statement by Army spokesperson, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu says acting on credible intelligence, the troops with close air support from the Nigerian Air Task Force component overran the position of the terrorists with heavy volume of fire from both land and air, killing over 20 of them.

The troops also captured heavy fire weapons and arms, including 3 anti-aircraft guns, 3 AK-47 rifles and 2 gun trucks, aside 2 other gun trucks that were destroyed by the troops.

Meanwhile, troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai deployed at the Forward Operational Base of 152 Battalion, Kumshe have killed 6 Boko Haram terrorists on a suicidal infiltration attempt into the camp.

Brigadier-General Nwachukwu notes that the terrorists mounted on 4 gun trucks and several motorcycles attempted to infiltrate and attack the camp through the northern part of the troops’ deployment, but were met with the fierce fire of the alert forces resulting in the instant killing 6 of the terrorists.

The troops sustained heavy gun fire on the terrorists during the encounter, routed and forced the them to flee in total disarray, leading to the capture of 6 AK-47 rifles, 1 hand held grenade, assorted drugs and other first aid items.
