The Special Task Force, STF, deployed to restore peace, eradicate armed banditry and criminal elements in Plateau, Parts of Bauchi state and Southern Kaduna, code named Operation Safe Haven, OPSH says its troops on Monday, August 14 rescued three victims earlier abducted in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria. Those freed include Dr. Bitrus Kim, Ishaya Atang Yohanna and Jibril Ibrahim who were among several hostages.
In a statement signed by STF Media and Information Officer, Captain Oya James on Monday, August 14, the troops also killed two armed robbers in Tudun Wada village in Southern Kaduna and arrested 62 suspects in connection with armed banditry, gun running, abduction and other heinous crimes.

Captain James also said men of the Special Task Force have recovered four locally fabricated rifles, two dane guns, 21 rounds of 7.62mm special, 13 rounds of 9mm, 11 cartridges, six AK-47 magazines, one pistol magazine, two cutlasses, one knife, four mobile phones, two vehicles as well as two trailers conveying vandalised railway slippers from the arrested suspects.
The statement further revealed that the troops recovered 43 rustled cows and 17 sheep while a total of 426 cows were arrested for grazing on farmlands belonging to locals across Operation Safe Haven Joint Operation Area, and were handed over to local council authorities for settlement in liaison with the Kaduna State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
The STF while appreciating the good people of Plateau, Bauchi and Kaduna States for the prompt dissemination of actionable information which has enhanced their quick responses urged the oeople to sustain the tempo to enable the Special Taskforce to achieve its mandate.
