Theatre Commander of Joint Taskforce North-West of Operation Fansan Yamma, Major-General Warrah Idris visits Niger Governor, Umar Bago

Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North-West of Operation Fansan Yamma, Major-General Warrah Idris, has revealed that operations are ongoing in Kainji Lake National Park and Babana, among other areas in Borgu local government area of Niger State, to clear and strangulate terrorists in the axis.

Major-General Idris, made this known when he led other team members on a courtesy visit to the Niger State Governor, Umar Bago in Minna.

The Kainji Lake National Park and Babana, which are land borders in Niger state, have become a hiding place for terrorists operating within the axis.

To ensure that all threats and camps created by the terrorists are flushed out, the Theatre Commander, Joint Taskforce North-West of Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Warrah Idris, is out to familiarise himself with all locations under his command, to assess and evaluate the situation, and terrain as well as boost the morale of his troops.

According to him, the mandate given to him and his team by the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Defence Staff, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Tinubu, is to ensure the security of the citizens of Nigeria.

While seeking cooperation from the government and people of Niger State, the Theatre Commander said assessments have been made and will soon bring out the maps for necessary actions.

On his part, Governor Bago advocated the need to establish Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) to block the entrance of miscreants from neighbouring states to the state. He also requested that 25,000 youths of the state be recruited as soldiers to help in fighting insecurity.

While expressing concern about assets that have been neglected in Kainji Lake National Park and other places in Borgu Local Government Area due to the activities of terrorists, making the areas safe havens, Bago expressed optimism that the operation Fansan Yamma will bring an end to the menace in no time.
