Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to lead the country’s delegation to the 48th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (AU).

The meeting is scheduled to hold from February 11 to 12, 2026, at the AU Headquarters.

In a statement signed by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, Ambassador Tuggar, who arrived in Ethiopia on Monday, February 9, was received by Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Berhanu Tsegaye, alongside Nigeria’s Charge d’Affaires in Ethiopia, Ambassador Nasir Aminu, and staff of the Nigerian Mission.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister will participate in a series of ministerial meetings, high-level dialogues, side events, and bilateral engagements as part of Nigeria’s commitment to advancing African unity, peace, security, democratic governance, and sustainable development across the continent.
Nigeria’s broader participation in the AU meetings will extend to the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for February 14 to 15, 2026.
On the sidelines of the summit, Tuggar is expected to hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from African and non-African countries to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic ties and advance shared strategic interests.
