Next Monday, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar will take office as Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister.
On Wednesday, the 56-year-old ambassador in Berlin was named the top diplomat by President Bola Tinubu and will take charge at the Tafawa Balewa House, Abuja headquarters of the Foreign Ministry, once sworn in after a retreat for all 44 ministers handed portfolios, announced by the presidency.
Tuggar, who has been the ambassador in Germany since 2017, was a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011.
Tuggar was educated at the University of Bath, United States International University, and Cambridge, where he earned a master’s degree.
With Nigeria leading the diplomatic face-off with the Junta in the Niger Republic, which ousted President Mohamad Bazoum in late July, Tuggar has a job to deal with, as he assumes office.
