A Federal High Court in Abuja has declined a request to investigate the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, ruling that the applicant failed to show he was acting in the interest of the public.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, while delivering her ruling on an ex-parte motion filed by one Emorioloye Owolemi, held that the application did not satisfy the requirements of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act, 2011.
Justice Abdulmalik ruled that Owolemi did not establish that he was acting in the public interest, while refusing to grant the reliefs sought.

Another judge of the same court, Justice Binta Nyako had granted Owolemi permission to investigate the secondary school certificate said to have been issued to the Minister by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Justice Nyako granted the request while ruling on a separate ex-parte application brought by Owolemi, who alleged discrepancies in the minister’s academic claims.
