Despite reported ongoing reconciliatory talks with the National Caretaker Committee group, the Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party is set to challenge the Court of Appeal judgment that invalidated the party’s Ibadan National Convention.
The decision was reached during its 103rd National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja on Friday.
The Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja served as the venue for this high-stakes gathering. In attendance were the Turaki-led National Working Committee, its Board of Trustees, and various state chairmen.
The meeting was held under a cloud of urgency, falling just 48 hours before a rival national elective convention scheduled by the Abdulrahman Mohammed’s National Caretaker Committee for March 29th and 30th.
Kabiru Turaki opened the session by outlining the party’s legal and administrative hurdles before the meeting moved into a closed-door session.

Emerging from the deliberations, National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong confirmed that the party would head to the Supreme Court to overturn the nullification of the Ibadan Convention.
Beyond the legal battle, the NEC also endorsed the commencement of nationwide electronic member registration.
Despite the litigation, Ememobong maintains that the door to peace remains open, insisting the legal action won’t stall ongoing reconciliation.
As the PDP grapples with internal friction that has persisted since losing power in 2015, political observers are watching closely to see if these dual tracks of litigation and diplomacy can finally unite the once dominant party.
