#EndSars

In what appears a step to check the use of fake social media accounts in the ongoing #EndSARS protests, popular microblogging platform, Twitter, has verified the handles of leading Nigerian #EndSARS protesters.

This followed weeks of request from Nigerian Twitter users to the CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, that certain leading #EndSARs protesters get their handles verified.

On Thursday evening, Twitter responded by verifying handles of some selected leading #EndSARS protesters among whom are Aisha Yesufu, @AishaYesufu, and Rinu @SavvyRinu.

Similarly, #EndSARS hashtag was also recognised as a global protest by Twitter. This followed the assignment of a global icon to the hashtag branded with the colour of Nigeria’s national flag, green white green.
