The two abducted Kaduna journalists, Abdulgafar Alabelewe and Abduraheem Aodu, along with their families, have been released by their captors after a week in captivity.
The Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, Asma’u Yawo Halilu, announced this in a statement this Saturday.
The Council extended gratitude to the office of the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, the office of the National Security Adviser, the Director General of the Department of State Security, the Inspector General of Police, the Kaduna State government, the NUJ President, and all well-meaning Nigerians who joined the council in prayers during this trying time.
The NUJ chairman mentioned that the council will soon announce when the journalists will rejoin their colleagues in Kaduna.
Recalled that the two journalists, Abdulgafar Alabelewe and Abduraheem Aodu, were abducted with their families from their homes by gunmen suspected to be bandits on Saturday, July 6.
