Two APC Female Candidates Win Kogi Assembly Election

Two female candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have been declared winners in the just concluded House of Assembly election in Kogi state, where the party clinched a total of twenty-two state legislative seats out of the twenty-five seats contested.

Comfort Nwuchola and Omotayo Adeleye-Ishaya, won the Ibaji and Ijumu state constituency seats respectively, making them the first female lawmakers in their constituencies since the creation of the state over thirty years ago

The House of Assembly election in Kogi state was keenly contested across the twenty-five constituencies in the twenty-one local Government Areas.

Returning officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, who announced the results across the constituencies declared candidates of the ruling APC winner in twenty-two constituencies.

The main opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, won two seats in Ogori/magongo and Bassa Constituencies while the African Democratic Congress, ADC, won the Yagba West state constituency seat.

History was made in the confluence state as two female candidates on the platform of the APC, Comfort Nwuchola and Omotayo Adeleye-Ishaya, emerged winners for Ibaji and Ijumu state constituency.

The members elect for Ajaokuta constituency, described the election as Peaceful

They attributed the party’s victory in all the elections to Yahaya Bello’s sterling performance.

Some constituents from Ajaokuta also have high expectations from both the state and Federal lawmakers elect

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and some election observer groups like connected development described the election as peaceful while commending INEC for redeeming itself of the challenges witnessed in the February 25th Presidential and National Assembly elections
