A leadership crisis has erupted in the Anambra State chapter of the Labour Party, leading to a near clash at an event in Awka, the State capital.
The timely interventions of a representative of the Anambra State Commissioner of Police at the venue of a stakeholders meeting called by one of the factions saved the day.
A sharp disagreement over the control of the leadership of the LP in the State had been brewing polarizing loyalty of members and creating tension as a faction allegedly attempted to inaugurate a Caretaker Committee for the State chapter.

After a brief meeting by representatives of the two factions with the CP Nnaghe Item, the stakeholders event was called off and both contending groups separately addressed Journalists.
