‎Two young men have been killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen at the Akpam Village 2 in Karu local government area of Nasarawa State.
‎
‎The two, aged 23 and 24 were said to have tried to prevent the cattle from feeding on leaves of a mango trees around their house, which led to an altercation and a knife attack by the herders
‎
The incident happened on Sunday afternoon. Saviour Avreson and his friend Michael were at home when cattle allegedly herded by Fulanis approached their house to graze
‎
‎The cattle were said to be feeding on some tree crops planted around Saviour’s house. Savior approached the herders, asking them to direct their cattle to the grazing field. This led to an altercation resulting in the death of Saviour and Michael
‎
‎The community is now a ghost town as residents are said to have fled over fear of further attacks by the herders who they say are their close neighbors.
‎
There were a few armed security operatives however on location and were joined by a truck loaded with security operatives
‎
‎The community leader Ibrahim Banji said they are worried as the community is no longer safe.
‎
‎They are calling on the Nasarawa State government and all the security agencies to provide protection for the community
‎
‎Akpam Village 2 is one of several small communities in Nasarawa State that have been attacked by Fulani Herdsmen in the past few months.
‎
‎The Police Public Relations Officer Nasarawa State command Nansel Ramhan has yet to respond to ait.live request for further information on the investigation so far.
