Edo State police has confirmed the kidnap of two Catholic priests, Reverend Father Udo Peter of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Uromi and Reverend Father Philemon Oboh of St. Joseph Retreat Center, Ugboha in Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The kidnap of the priests is coming a few days after the Catholic priest of Saint Michael catholic church, Ikabigbo  Etsako West, Christopher Odia was kidnapped and killed.

According to the police public relations officer Chidi Nwabuzor in a press release made available to journalists on Sunday, the incident was reported to the  Divisional Police Officer by the catholic priest of  Saint Dominic Catholic Church, Ugboha, Edo State on Sunday  3rd of July in a text message that the two priests were attacked, kidnapped and taken to unknown place by some kidnappers along the Benin-Auchi Expressway between Ehor and Iruekpen Communities.

The image maker further says the commissioner of Police Abutu Yaro on receiving the report drafted police operatives to the area who are to carry out an intensive manhunt in arresting the Kidnappers and to rescue the priests unhurt.

While the search for the kidnapped priests is ongoing, the commissioner of police  is soliciting the cooperation of the public, in giving information to the Police and other sister security agencies not only in rescuing the kidnapped priests but also in Policing Edo State.

There has been a wave of kidnap of clergymen across Nigeria in recent times.

While fortunate ones among them regained their freedom after payment of huge ransom, less fortunate ones get killed in the process.
