The police have confirmed the death of two persons which includes their officer and vigilante personnel at Eberi-Omuma in Omuma LGA.
This follows the clash of supporters of two political factions over tenure expiration of Local Government Council Chairmen leading to breakdown of law and order.
In a statement by State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko in Port Harcourt, to forestall more bloodshed and prevent further breakdown of law and order, the Police have taken over all the 23 Council Secretariats including other critical government infrastructure with deployment of conventional and anti-riot police officers.
The Police further urged groups and individuals to be law-abiding and warned that it will not hesitate to impose the full weight of the law on anyone who intends to cause mayhem in the state.
