Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara says bitter politics has been the main obstacle to efforts to rehabilitate vital federal assets such as the two sea port facilities in the state.

Governor Fubara says the scenario of bitterness that deprived the state of the opportunity of having the two sea ports rehabilitated is playing itself out again.

Speaking when he received members of the House of Representatives Committee on Ports and Harbours, Governor Fubara says politics should always be about advancing the interest of the state and not about individual differences or personal interest.

Led by their Chairman, Nnolim Nnaji, members of the House Committee were in Rivers State on an oversight visit to the Port Harcourt and Onne sea ports and Bonny channel. Nnaji however says the National Assembly will ensure that the two neglected ports are given due attention.

Governor Fubara warns that the politics of bitterness will continue to do harm to the unity and development of the state unless the political class has a change of mind. He however says his administration will support every effort aimed at bringing development to Rivers State.

Fubara used the opportunity to again assure the world that Rivers State is safe, peaceful, focused, and poised for greater heights and investments.
