Two senators from Taraba State have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing prevailing political realities and developments within their former party.
The lawmakers are Haruna Manu, who represents Taraba Central, and Shuaibu Lau, who represents Taraba North.
In separate letters read on the floor of the Senate, the senators formally announced their resignation from the PDP and their decision to join the APC.
They said the move followed extensive consultations and careful reflection on the aspirations and interests of their constituencies.
According to the lawmakers, the decision was informed by the need to better serve the people they represent, adding that the APC offers a platform more aligned with their vision and developmental objectives.
They expressed confidence that their new political affiliation would enhance their capacity to effectively advance the interests of their constituents.
