Two members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Yusuf Muhammad, representing Anka constituency and Ibrahim Tukur, representing Bakura, have been suspended for three months, over alleged complicity in banditry activities in the state.

A statement by the Director-General, Public Relations, of the Assembly, Mustapha Jaafaru said this shortly after, every member of the Assembly took an oath with the Holy Qua’ran to prove his innocence of the insecurity in the state.

A member representing Maru North Constituency, Yusuf Alhassan, drew the attention of his colleagues, that there are allegations against two members of the House, over gross official misconduct.

Alhassan alleged that during the kidnap saga of the biological father of the Speaker, late Mu’azu Magarya, the two members in question were said to have been jubilating over the incident.

He alleged that the said members were the brains behind the killing of the Chairman, Committee on Finance and Appropriation, late Muhammad Jangeru, representing Shinkafi Constituency.

Alhassan called on his colleagues to as a matter of urgency, suspend the two members, Yusuf Muhammad and Ibrahim Tukur from all legislative activities, for an initial period of three months, and ask the security agencies to investigate them, as well as ensure their telephones are tracked.

The statement also said, a member representing Birnin Magaji Constituency, Nura Dahiru, backed the move for the suspension of the two members, given the heavy allegations against them.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Nasiru Mu’azu in his ruling, approved the suspension of the two members for an initial period of two months.

The speaker directed the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges to fully investigate the two members and report back to the house within three months.
