U.S soul musician Angie Stone dies in Alabama auto crash

The 63-year-old American R and B, Soul Singer, Music Producer and Actress, Angie Stone has died in a car accident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, in Montgomery Alabama, United States.

Stone was said to be travelling in a sprinter van to Atlanta Georgia in company of nine others after performing in Alabama on Friday night before the incident occurred.

Her daughter, Diamond Stone has confirmed the incident in a Facebook post.

Grammy nominee, Angie Stone who was a member of the first all-female group signed to Sugar Hill Records; “The Sequence” became
prominent in the late 1970s.

Stone was nominated for three Grammy Awards in 2005 and she won two Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards.

In 2021, she received the Soul Music Icon Award at the Black Music Honours and in 2024 she was a featured vocalist on Damon Little’s “No Stressing”, which peaked at Number 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart.

The Soul, R&B singer has to her credit hits such as “No More Rain (In This Cloud)”, “Wish I Didn’t Miss You,” “More Than A Woman”, “Funk You Up”, “Time To Come Home” among other songs.

Angie Stone who was born on December 18, 1961 in Columbia, South Carolina in the United States is survived by her son Michael, daughter Diamond and two grandchildren.
