Ukraine crisis: FG gives waiver from pre-departure covid19 quarantine protocols for Nigerian evacuees

The Presidential Steering Committee, (PSC), on COVID I9, has directed that Airlines board passengers travelling to Nigeria with proof of having left Ukraine.

Also, given the ongoing hostilities in Ukraine, the Federal Government has said it will begin the evacuation of Nigerians saved from the Ukraine-Russia crisis.

The Presidential Steering Committee in a letter by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority to all airlines operating international flights to Nigeria said the evacuation should be done under the following conditions;

1 . Waiver from the Forty-Eight (48) hours Pre-departure COVID19 PCR test requirement.

  1. Waiver from the requirement to the pre-departure filling of the Nigerian International Travel Portal (NITP), Payment for a repeat test in Nigeria and generation of Permit to Fly/QR code.
  2. Passengers will however be required to fill the Nigerian International Travel Portal (NITP) upon their arrival in Nigeria, with the assistance of the Port Health Services.
  3. Upon arriving in Nigeria, passengers will be directed by the Port Health Services, to designated Government Laboratories for the COVID19 PCR test.
    The COVID19 PCR test which must be done within Twenty Fours (24) hours of arrival will be at no cost to the passenger.

The one-paged letter signed was by the Director-General of the authority, Musa Nuhu.

As The Ukraine-Russia crisis hits day 6, Russian President Vladimir Putin has since placed a red alert on the use of its nuclear weapon anytime soon.
