The Benue State Government has described as unacceptable and unpardonable the persistent unprovoked attacks on residents of Umogidi village in Otukpo LGA where the death toll has steadily risen to 52 persons with some still unaccounted for.
While urging them not to take laws into their hands the Deputy Governor, Benson Abounu who led the State Government delegation including heads of security agencies to the affected community insists that when someone comes to attack you in your house you should defend yourself.

There have been sustained attacks on Umogidi village in Otukpo LGA with the Chairman of Council, Bako Eje who hails from the community himself not spared as his son was killed in the gruesome massacre including a personnel of the Nigerian Police Force who was also caught in the line of fire.
