As part of measures to ensure more women’s participation in political leadership positions, the United Nations in collaboration with the Canadian embassy has trained the first batch of 50 Benue women in its young women in politics forum project.
It is expected that this batch will in turn engage other young women, in order to expand the scope of coverage.
Although the International Women’s Day may have passed the celebration continues in earnest in Makurdi Benue’s administrative capital.
With this year’s theme “Women In Leadership Achieving An Equal Future In a COVID-19 world” in focus, 5 women including the wife of the State Governor Eunice Ortom, were also recognised.
