The United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Edward Kallon, has called for a ceasefire on the war in North-Western and the Southwestern regions of the Cameroon Republic, as the only means to put a stop to the humanitarian crisis caused by the war.
The UN representative made the call in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, where he visited Cameroonian refugees.
Over 4, 000 of the Cameroonian refugee population in Taraba State is based in Takum Local Government Area, where it shares borders with the Republic of Cameroon on the Kashimbilla axis.
The refugees had enjoyed the support of the state government, host communities, and the T.Y Danjuma Foundation.
The United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria visited the refugees in Takum, as part of efforts towards addressing their plight.
He said that ways must be sorted to transform the humanitarian situation into a development opportunity and called for a ceasefire in the warring parts of Cameroon, to stop the situation from deteriorating.

Taraba State Government has called for the construction of a refugee camp in the area to ease the shelter needs of the asylum seekers.
Over 14,000 Cameroonian citizens that fled the anglophone war in Cameroon Republic are seeking refuge in the various local government areas.
