The United Nations Population Fund, (UNFPA), has launched a training program aimed at improving healthcare access for people with disabilities in Kaduna State.
The initiative is equipping health providers with essential skills and insight to make healthcare facilities more inclusive and accessible, ensuring that people with disabilities receive the respectful and comprehensive care they deserve.
This training program by UNFPA, in collaboration with the Kaduna State Disabilities Affairs Board, seeks to address key healthcare inclusion issues and equip health workers with the skills and empathy required to offer inclusive, compassionate care to all patients.
One health worker, Aisha Bala, said the training has already expanded her understanding of inclusive care, helping her create a more welcoming environment for patients with disabilities.
The program has also sparked calls for the Ministry of Health to expand similar training initiatives, allowing more health workers to participate and helping to strengthen support for people with disabilities.
