Students at the university of Abuja will have to wait for many more days to resume academic activities, as the institution’s lecturers insist on remaining on strike, despite the exit of the former vice-chancellor, Professor Abdullarashid Na’allah.

The University of Abuja ASUU Chairman, professor Sylvanus Ugoh, told ait.live on Monday, after the handover and taking over by Professor Aisha Maikudi, as the acting vice chancellor.

Forty-one year old professor of international law, who teaches company law and United Nations law, Aisha Sani Maikudi is the acting vice chancellor universities of Abuja, after the five year sting of Professor Abdulrasheed Na’llah came to an end on June 30, 2024

The Outgone vice chancellor handed over documents, which include issues possibly responsible for the 61 day old strike by ASUU.

UniAbuja ASUU has been on strike since May, 2024 over five key issues;
The non-conduct of election for deans of faculties, the alleged denial of full share to ASUU in the institution’s microfinance bank, the recruitment of staff without approval of a regular governing council, and the advertorial for the position of a vice chancellor without a council.

Expectations are high that Professor Aisha Maikudi will quickly intervene to resolve the 61 one day old ASUU strike among other key disturbing issues.
