The University of Calabar (UNICAL) in Cross River State, has taken a firm stance in response to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) recent invalidation of certificates for 93 individuals involved in alleged fraudulent activities, emphasizing its critical role in exposing the deceit.

In a Press briefing held at the institution, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Florence Obi, underscored that the University was the first to detect and address the fraudulent entries that have recently come to light.

The Vice Chancellor, represented by the Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Tony Eyang, strongly endorsed the NYSC’s actions, describing them as a necessary step in combating corruption and criminal activities.

The University said it has also communicated its findings to the NYSC, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), Federal Ministry of Education, and the National Universities Commission (NUC), urging further actions to address and resolve the issues.

The authorities of the University of Calabar pointed out that its proactive measures highlight the institution’s commitment to transparency, and maintaining the highest standards in academic excellence.
