Unical fire outbreak: SUG President decries level of damage caused by inferno

But for the quick intervention of the Students of the University of Calabar Sunday morning, the fire Outbreak that engulfed the faculty of physical Science would have been a total destruction if facilities in the institution.

Eyewitness account that the fire which started around 2am on Sunday was quickly put off, following a distress call by the SUG President of the University, Comrade Tyron Bassey to the Fire fighters professionals in the state.

Some infrastructures at the Mathematics Department, Faculty of Physical Science in the institution, were damaged by the inferno before it was put off.

The SUG President, called on students to be calm as the school management has assured of investigating the cause of the fire , suspected to have occurred as a result of electrical fault.

The inferno led to the destruction of some infrastructures around the faculty before the fire was put off by the men from the fire service in Cross River State.


A quick intervention by some Students of the University of Calabar Sunday morning, a fire Outbreak that engulfed the faculty of physical Science building prevented a total destruction.

Eyewitnesses say the fire which started around 2am on Sunday was quickly put off, following a distress call by the Students Union President of the University, Comrade Tyron Bassey to the Fire fighters in the state.

Some equipment at the Mathematics Department, Faculty of Physical Science in the institution, were damaged by the inferno.
