Wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, has called for more collaboration with government to curb the increasing cases of childhood cancer in the state.
Speaking at the presentation of the upgraded pediatric oncology ward at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, Otu underscored the urgent need for investments in the health sector facilities to elevate the quality of services provided.
Represented by the Director-General of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Vivian Mesembe, the Cross River First Lady who commended the partners for its contributions to quality healthcare delivery in the state, asserted that while the governor was dedicated to supporting the health care sector, collaboration from other organizations and philanthropic individuals were required .

On his part, the Chief Medical Director of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Professor Ikpeme Ikpeme, expressed concerns over the hospital’s aging facilities and the need for urgent renovations and upgrades to meet the growing demands of patients care.
The inauguration of the Pediatric Oncology Medical ward donated by a service organization, signifies commitment to humanitarian service and underscores the donor’s dedication to impacting lives positively.
