UNICEF, Katsina Govt sign MoU to construct ultra-modern medical warehouse

The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Katsina State Government to construct an ultra-modern medical warehouse in the state.


The facility, which has a 4-month completion date, is to cost about 900 million naira, with UNICEF providing 85 per cent of the funds, while the state government is to come up with the rest as counterpart funding.

At the signing of the memorandum of understanding, a health specialist with UNICEF, Kano Field Office, Dr Saudat Bashir, said that the warehouse, which will be provided with state-of-the-art facilities, will be located at the premises of the state’s central medical store.


The Katsina State Commissioner for Health, Dr Bashir Saulawa, who spoke through the Director Of Pharmaceutical Services of the ministry, Adamu Suleiman, commended the development partners for the gesture, saying it is as a great achievement for the state.


He gave the assurance that the state government will provide the 15% counterpart fund for the project adding that the warehouse will complement the effort of the state government to at ensuring that people in rural areas are provided with quality drugs.
