The management of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH, has debunked rumours circulating on the social media that nineteen babies have died at the special care baby unit of the the hospital as a result of power outage.
A press statement by the public relations officer of the hospital, Elabha Meni described the report as saddening and certainly the handiwork of mischief makers who are not happy with the achievements of the current management .
The statement said those pendling such rumours are hell bent on tarnishing the image of the revered institution.
Meni added that The University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital is an institution, where world’s best medical standards are practiced and maintained, which also has elevated the institution as one of the best medical centers in the South-south and Nigeria at large.
The management of UPTH frowns seriously at such scandalous social media propaganda that is damaging its image, he added.
