Motive behind the killing of the politician reportedly to be in his early fifties is yet to be determined, although speculations have hovered around his political engagements and a tussle to rid his hometown, Igbomotoru in Southern Ijaw from the grip of illegal oil Bunkerers.

Confirming the incident in a statement, the Bayelsa State Police Commissioner, Ben Nnebolisa through his Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Buswat said despite being rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, Sunday Frank-Oputu was not able to make it and was confirmed dead.

The Police Commissioner said he has charged his men to intensify efforts at unmasking the killers and called anyone with useful information to assist the police.
