Yet to be identified gunmen invaded a rural community in Logo local government area of Benue state murdering one and abducting four others including a pastor.
According to a community leader and President, Gaambe-Tiev Youths Association (GYA), Hemen Terkimbi, the gunmen at about 11am, opened fire on harmless Christians while Sunday morning healing mass was ongoing.
Hembe said one person was killed in the process of the attack, and five people were injured while four other worshippers including the resident pastor, Rev. Pst. Gwadue Kwaghtyo were captured and taken to an unknown destination.
He stated that those who sustained severe injuries include Ag. Kindred Head of Akemkpa, Zaki Tyokase Ingyutu who was wounded on the head is currently receiving treatment at different hospitals in Ugba and Anyiim areas of Logo local government.
Hemen called on security personnel to comb all the nooks and crannies of the affected areas to ensure that the attackers are arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.
Although the police public relations officer, Sewuese Anene confirmed the unfortunate incidents in a statement she, however, denied claims that they were worshippers.

“These victims were members of Akenawe village who were in their homes going about their normal businesses and not worshippers as alleged.
Police patrol teams were immediately deployed to the area where five injured persons were taken to Abeda clinic for treatment.”The statement read in part
Anene added that the Commissioner of Police, Benue State command, CP. Wale Abass who condemned this attack, has ordered a detailed investigation into the case to ensure that perpetuators are brought to book.
