Following investigation into an alleged ritual den in Benin city, Edo state police Says the owner of a mortuary and other persons suspected to be running a ritual den has a case to answer after the Conclusion of investigation of the discovery of twenty three embalmed corpses at a house in Ekenwan road, Benin city Edo state.
Commissioner of police, Olawure Oluwole and other government officials including the attorney general of Edo state who briefed journalists on the outcome of the investigation which started about two weeks ago, accused some of the suspects of criminal tendencies having been in possession of twenty three embalmed human corpses and one dismembered human corpse.
According to DCP Olawure Oluwole, the investigative team which had medical officers, police officers in charge of homicide, officials of the ministry of health after a thorough investigation found that the Principal suspect Gabriel Chukwu otu who runs mortuary services in Benin city is not qualified to practice as a mortician and did not acquire formal training but only worked at different mortuaries as attendant.

The conclusion after the investigation is that the Owner of the mortuary Gabriel Otu and other suspects in custody have a case to answer.
The commissioner for health professor Obehi Akoria, urged those running mortuary services to ensure that their registration is updated as a clamp down on unregistered Mortuaries is being considered by the state government.
