A official investigation into Rano Air was launched by the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) in response to claims of discrimination against Alhaji Usman Bura Gabai, the State Chairman of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities. Mr. Gabai was refused boarding at Maiduguri International Airport due to the fact that he was use a wheelchair.
The NCPWD’s investigation panel invited representatives from Rano Air and held a lengthy discussion on the concerns.
The Commission asked Rano Air to modify its policy that prohibited people with impairments from boarding the aircraft during the course of the investigation.
