Edo State Government has assured residents that it will not relent in its effort to ensure safety of lives and properties in the state.

This assurance was given by Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu when he led members of the State Executive Council to the five banks and Police Division Headquarters that were attacked and robbed on Thursday in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area.

February 24, 2022 started like any other day for indigenes of Uromi in Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State as they went about their daily activities.

However things took a dark turn when an unspecified number of armed men took over a popular road where some commercial banks conduct their businesses.

Their targets were the First Bank, Unity Bank, Union Bank, Zenith Bank and the United Bank for Africa, UBA where attacks were carried out at the same time and monies carted away.

Worried by the development, a delegation from Edo State Government is led to the affected banks by Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu on a fact finding mission.

He meets with some workers of the affected banks who narrate their ordeal.

Done with the assessment of the damage at the banks, the delegation from the State Government proceeds to the Palace of the Ojuromi of Uromi, His Royal Highness Anselm Eidenojie II.

Philip Shaibu speaks on behalf of the State Governor Godwin Obaseki.

He assures indigenes that the State Government will not relent in its effort to ensure safety of lives and properties.

Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Marcus Onobun says the legislative arm of Government is giving the necessary backing for the enhancement of the state security system.

Thereafter the delegation visits the Uromi Police Division also attacked.

They leave from there to the hospital where some injured victims are being treated.
