The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulkareem Age has identified drug abuse as one of the major causes of insecurity and kidnapping in the country.
Age made the submission at an interactive session with journalists in Ilorin the State capital.
He noted that most of the perpetrators of the kidnapping and banditry operate under the influence of alcohol and other dangerous drug substances.

Expressing concern over the level of insecurity in the country and efforts by Nigerian leaders to tackle it, Professor Abdulkareem Age and other stakeholders in the education sector maintained that kidnapping must be discouraged from being seen as a lucrative business.
Prof. Age however advised Nigerians to continue to seek divine intervention even as he called on government at all levels to double their efforts and find lasting solutions to the situation.
