One of Nigeria’s Foremost Broadcasters, Fabio Lanipekun is dead.
Described by the Sports Fraternity as a leading light in television reportage and production as well as a pioneer sports commentator Fabio Lanipekun passed away on Sunday few days after he celebrated his 80th Birthday at his magodo residence in Lagos.
Fabio whose real name is Adesola Olanipekun inspired some Nigerians including former Green Eagles captain Segun Odegbami, Modele Sarafa-Yusuf among others into sports broadcasting and live commentaries in his active years.
Fabio Lanipekun was the head of sports at the Nigeria Television Authority(NTA) headquarters for many years.
He also served as the Public Relations Officer(PRO) of the Nigeria Olympic Committee at a point in his career.
Those who worked with Fabio include Waheed Olagunju former MD NIDB, Charles Ojugbana a Director with the Federal Ministry of Information, Rotimi Bisiriyu a businessman and Tunde Orebiyi of Daar Communications Plc.
