Veteran journalist and co-founder of NewsWatch magazine, Dan Agbese, has died at 81 years.
Agbese, who was one of the pillars of modern journalism in Nigeria, was a former editor of The Nigeria Standard, the New Nigerian as well as former general manager of Radio Benue in Makurdi.
Family sources confirmed that the popular wordsmith who was known for his satirical writing died Monday morning in Lagos.
The late highly-regarded newspaper columnist holds degrees in mass communications and journalism from the University of Lagos and Columbia University, New York, respectively, and was also an author of several acclaimed books, including Nigeria Their Nigeria, Fellow Nigerians, The Reporter’s Companion, Style: A Guide to Good Writing and The Columnist’s Companion: The Art and Craft of Column Writing.
