A veteran journalist who served as a spokesman to the former military Head of State General Ibrahim Babangida, Duro Onabule is dead, according to multiple sources.
He had a few days to his 83rd birthday.
Onabule worked in Daily Sketch, Daily Express, and Daily Times and was also editor of the National Concord in the 1980s before he was appointed Chief Press Secretary to General Babangida.
In 2017, he was appointed Chairman, of the Nigerian Television Authority, (NTA), by President Muhammadu Buhari, who commended the octogenarian for “upholding the highest standard of professionalism in journalism, by investigating and projecting the truth”.
