The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association wants the Federal Government to urgently recruit veterinary doctors into federal and state civil services.
The National President of the association, Olutoyin Adetuberu, who made this call during the 2022 Veterinary Summit in Abuja, says the recruitment will go a long way in curbing the menace of quackery in the veterinary practice.
Quackery has been one major issue the veterinary industry in Nigeria has to contend with.
It is believed that quackery depreciates the image and value of a profession as It exposes a profession to lack of integrity, uniqueness and stagnates the growth of the profession.
This is why the Nigerian veterinary medical association wants government’s support in dealing with the daily increasing number of illegal practices which are further compounding the public health burden in the country.
