Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, says the time has come for northern leaders to move beyond lamentation and focus on building institutions capable of reducing the glaring poverty and secure the future of youths in the region.
The Vice president who said this during a two-day roundtable on insecurity in Northern Nigeria, explained that the country cannot be saved from terrorism until the people come together to fight their common enemies.
In the last twenty years, Northern Nigeria has been ravaged by insurgency with thousands of people killed and several others displaced following the destruction of their communities.
The situation has even degenerated from serial bombing to kidnapping with hundreds of persons currently in captivity.
It is against this backdrop that leaders from northern Nigeria are gathered in Abuja to seek ways of addressing the menace.

Vice President, Kashim Shetima, in a message to the gathering said the Tinubu administration has begun rolling out security strategies to end insurgency in Nigeria.
Other speakers Canvassed for new approaches to the fight against insecurity in the region.
The dialogue organized by the Coalition of Northern Groups brought together Governors from the 19 Northern states and other political, and Traditional rulers from the region.
