Two Clubs from Bayelsa State, the Bayelsa United, and the Bayelsa Queens, winners of the men and women’s competitions of this year’s AITEO Cup, were accorded a heroic welcome on their return from Benin City to Yenagoa the state capital.
A jubilant crowd received both teams and the state delegation led by the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, at the entry point into Yenagoa amid solidarity songs and dance.

The procession started from the Igbogene Gateway and terminated at Peace Park opposite the Government House, where a mammoth crowd was also waiting for the teams.
Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, attributed the success to the miracle of God that ushered him and Governor Diri into office.
A formal celebration is said to be underway where Governor Douye Diri is officially receiving players of both teams.
